OOTD: Pleated With Pink Plastic!

Hey Hey! I decided to do an OOTD featuring a few pieces from a dope clothing company I came across on social media. Pink Plastic is a line based out of Washington, DC with some of the most authentic pieces I’ve seen in a while. When I came across their site I remember instantly falling in love because their brand featured all different types of women. Literally every shape, size and skin tone is embraced by this clothing company! Their mission is for  “every woman to channel her inner doll by experimenting with the different trends and designs”. I don’t know about y’all but I absolutely love this! I had to get my hands on their clothing. Recently they released some of cutest pleated skirts that they added their own innovative spin to of course. When my skirt arrived in the mail it fit like it was made specifically for me. Being a smaller framed woman, when this happens, I am ecstatic. I knew instantly that I wanted to feature it on my blog. Below I have featured the BOMB skirt I ordered from Pink Plastic and I am more than excited to find many ways to style it. Shop their website! http://shoppinkplastic.com I hope you enjoy!

Blogtober: Yoga For Everything!

Hey Hey! Today I wanted to share with you one of the many health and wellness channels that I love on youtube. As adults we have so many obligations and so many things pulling us here and there that overtime it can be extremely exhausting and tiresome. It takes a toll on your mind and body and can lead to some lasting health complications. I know my biggest issue is stress and anxiety. If I don’t give myself time to rest and reset, I can become extremely overwhelmed and it begins to affect my physical health. This looks different for everyone but as a future clinician myself, I thought I’d share one of the things that has not only empirically been found to improve overall health but my health as well. From the title you’ve probably already guessed that the wonderful practice I’m referring to is yoga. I got introduced to yoga in high school as I was a dance major and we incorporated yoga practices into our conditioning on a weekly basis. With the beyond evolving technology available to us today, you can access yoga in so many ways. My favorite is on youtube! I came across this page by just clicking and clicking. The page is entitled, “Yoga With Adriene”. Adriene welcomes all levels, all bodies, all genders, and all souls on her yoga journey. She emphasizes how she wants everyone who visits her channel to simply find a practice that suits their mood or visit to if they’re looking to begin a journey toward healing. If you are looking to incorporate many different types of fitness into your everyday routine, I would encourage you to check out her channel. Below I have attached some of my favorites. Please feel free to comment below! “Reconnect. Do your best, be authentic and FIND WHAT FEELS GOOD.”

Blogtober: Recent Straight Hair Finds!

Hey Hey! As you can tell by the title I will be sharing some of my recent pick-ups for when I straighten my hair. It's getting chilly outside so you will find me with straight hair a little more often than you would in the summer months. Ya'll know when my hair is curly I am a wash and go girl so I airdry and go about my business. With the temperature changing and my schedule becoming more demanding, wash day takes a little more planning and effort. I still wear my wash and go in the fall/winter months however sometimes like now...I like to make my life a little easier by just straightening my hair.
Of course when I decide to style my hair this way I take extra precautions to avoid heat damage etc. My goal is always healthy hair in any state. Recently I found that my hair has gotten a tad bit thicker and not to mention my flat iron was old and with 1" plates. I quickly realized that because my flat iron didn't heat up that well and it was smaller, it took way longer than I liked to do this process. So I begin my search for a new flat iron that was 1 1/2 " and heated to at least 420 degrees as we know hair burns at 450. (Pro-tip) Recently I was able to find a flat iron that was affordable and met my size and temperature requirements. Keep reading to find out why I chose this product.
I decided to purchase the GVP 1 1/2 Inch Ceramic Flat Iron from Sally Beauty Supply. This product was a great price and it came with all the capabilities I needed to have a sleek look and reduced risk of damage in the process. The flat iron goes up to 450 degrees which means that's when it is the hottest. I will have it set at about 410-420ish to further prevent heat damage. I run the flat iron through my strands only twice so it was imperative that I have a flat that facilitates silk and shine. I am beyond excited to use my new product.
Details
The GVP 1-1/2" Digital Ceramic Flat Iron has an ergonomic design and curved edge plates to create any style from straight to curly and everything in between. A powerful heating element and 5 heat settings give you the power to create the style of your dreams. This GVP styling tool uses Far Infrared Ceramic plates that maintain an even temperature all the time, eliminating damaging hot spots that can cause damage and breakage to the delicate hair strands. This ceramic technology also produces negative ions that seal the cuticle, repels humidity and locks in hair color to help resist fading while smoothing and straightening. The lightweight ergonomic design is also squeeze sensitive to help style hair with minimal tension with no pulling or tugging.

GVP is Sally's generic product brand and this flat iron is actually comparative to the CHI 1 1/2 Flat Iron however, it is way cheaper. While I was there to purchase my flat iron, I also indulged in some of their other products. I purchased my favorite Paul Mitchell Serum that I've been using for years as well as a GVP product comparative to the Kenra Blow Dry Spray. These products have the same consistency, smell and ingredients as the original products however, they are way more affordable. For someone like me who only has their hair straight a few times a year, it's a great alternative to spending loads of money on products you don't use as often.

Overall I am pleased with my pick-ups and I encourage you to browse the GVP section at your local Sally's Beauty. They actually have a sale lasting through the end of the month. Thanks for reading!

Blogtober: Fenty Beauty!

Hey Hey! So I know everyone and their mama has purchased something from the Fenty Beauty line and because I’m obsessed with Robyn, you KNOW I did too. Surprisingly I didn’t go as crazy as I would’ve expected myself to. I am a girly girl however, anyone who knows me would tell you when it comes to makeup I either do the bare minimum or I don’t wear any at all. It takes me ages to get through makeup so I decided to relax during this launch and get items I knew I would quickly go through. I always and I mean ALWAYS wear lipgloss so naturally i grabbed her Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer. I absolutely love it and I can’t believe I haven’t run out yet. It’s perfect by itself but also as a topper for your favorite lip color you want to make pop with its' aluminizing properties. It’s also a universal rose nude shade that I think would look amazing on any skin tone. I would actually recommend this over any of the other products. Get you some!
The other product I decided to purchase was her Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in the color Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule. I decided to get this color because I felt it would better suit my skin tone as well as double for something else such a subtle eyeshadow. I could easily see it being helpful when blending certain eyeshadow looks as well. I absolutely love the colors because they remind me of a copper/rose gold shade. I’m here for anything that reminds me of copper or rose gold. I tried this out and it is amazing!! I actually plan to incorporate it with my birthday makeup look. The best part about this highlighter is that it melts into your skin and doesn’t flake all over the place. I don’t know about you guys but I hate when blush or highlighter is super messy. Rihanna did a great job with making sure this product did not do this. I was mad impressed! But it’s a product of Rihanna so did we really expect anything less?! I didn’t.
If you haven’t already head on over to your local Sephora and check out these products for yourself. I didn’t purchase the foundation but I did swatch it in the store and let me tell you!!! I’m an oily girl and that foundation is magical. Like really. Get your hands on these products. You won’t be disappointed. If you’ve already purchased items from the collection let me know about them in the comments. I’d love to know your favorites! Thanks for reading!

Sephora Collection: Mud Mask Purifying & Mattifying Review

Hey Hey! If you guys have been reading my blog, then you've probably noticed how product reviews are few and far between. This is because I don't believe in buying a product, using it once, and then swearing by it. I have to use a product either numerous times or finish the whole bottle depending on its' size, before I claim to review it. I think that's fair because in my opinion how can you use something once and then swear by it? Anyway, let's start by discussing how I came across this product in the first place.
When it comes to my skin I am an oily skin girl so my face pretty much in the span of 30 minutes will produce its' own moisturizer honestly. Surprisingly I don't get many breakouts but when I do, they tend to be pimples that form under the skin. This is because with my skin producing so much of its' own oil, sometimes this oil (or sebum) will get clogged under my skin and boom you guessed it, I get a nice little bump under the skin. Recently I had one on my cheek that was there for what felt like weeks. When I get these pimples they aren't visible on the surface of my skin, I can just feel them when I touch my face. They do go away on their own overtime but this time I wanted to try and treat it as I noticed when I have been getting a pimple here and there, it would be the same pimple in the same spot. Seemed fishy to me so I wanted to confront the little sucker and get rid of it for good.
I decided to head over to my local Sephora to see my girl (we all have "our girl") at Sephora. After chatting with her about my pimple and blah blah blah, she made a recommendation based on what I was looking for. She is always extremely honest as those close to me know I will say in a heartbeat "don't lie to me" lol. She is very knowledgeable about the products in Sephora and is always able to direct me to exactly what I am looking for. She suggested that I try the Sephora Collection: Mud Mask which was both purifying and mattifying. I was sold because I had never come across a mask that was mattifying before. Having oily skin, I love anything mattifying because it keeps your oil at bay but doesn't dry out the skin which causes more oil production. That was exactly what I needed! I wanted to purify/unclog/dry out that pimple but also not dry out my face. Let's talk a little more about this product.
What is the Sephora Collection: Mud Mask Purifying & Mattifying?
A mud mask featuring zinc and copper to cleanse and purify the skin—aka your skin’s BFF when it needs a detox.
What does it do?
Made with zinc, copper, and white clay, this mud mask cleanses and purifies pores, absorbs excess sebum, and reduces the appearance of blemishes without overdrying. Skin is left clean, matte, and soft after each use.
How can it be used?
Use this over your entire face or as a spot treatment.
Use one to two times per week.
-Apply an even layer over face and neck, avoiding the eye area.
-Massage for one minute and allow it to sit until its color changes when dry.
-Rinse well with warm water.

Pros
-Sold at Sephora & Sephora inside JCP
- Purifies and Cleanses Skin
- Aids in healthy appearance of skin
Cons
-Can be expensive to some as it runs between $12-$20
-Not for dry or combination skin

I personally love Sephora brand products to include their make-up and brushes. Have you used any of the face masks or skin care products from the Sephora Collection? If so, let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading!
