Sephora Collection: Mud Mask Purifying & Mattifying Review

Hey Hey! If you guys have been reading my blog, then you've probably noticed how product reviews are few and far between. This is because I don't believe in buying a product, using it once, and then swearing by it. I have to use a product either numerous times or finish the whole bottle depending on its' size, before I claim to review it. I think that's fair because in my opinion how can you use something once and then swear by it? Anyway, let's start by discussing how I came across this product in the first place.
When it comes to my skin I am an oily skin girl so my face pretty much in the span of 30 minutes will produce its' own moisturizer honestly. Surprisingly I don't get many breakouts but when I do, they tend to be pimples that form under the skin. This is because with my skin producing so much of its' own oil, sometimes this oil (or sebum) will get clogged under my skin and boom you guessed it, I get a nice little bump under the skin. Recently I had one on my cheek that was there for what felt like weeks. When I get these pimples they aren't visible on the surface of my skin, I can just feel them when I touch my face. They do go away on their own overtime but this time I wanted to try and treat it as I noticed when I have been getting a pimple here and there, it would be the same pimple in the same spot. Seemed fishy to me so I wanted to confront the little sucker and get rid of it for good.
I decided to head over to my local Sephora to see my girl (we all have "our girl") at Sephora. After chatting with her about my pimple and blah blah blah, she made a recommendation based on what I was looking for. She is always extremely honest as those close to me know I will say in a heartbeat "don't lie to me" lol. She is very knowledgeable about the products in Sephora and is always able to direct me to exactly what I am looking for. She suggested that I try the Sephora Collection: Mud Mask which was both purifying and mattifying. I was sold because I had never come across a mask that was mattifying before. Having oily skin, I love anything mattifying because it keeps your oil at bay but doesn't dry out the skin which causes more oil production. That was exactly what I needed! I wanted to purify/unclog/dry out that pimple but also not dry out my face. Let's talk a little more about this product.
What is the Sephora Collection: Mud Mask Purifying & Mattifying?
A mud mask featuring zinc and copper to cleanse and purify the skin—aka your skin’s BFF when it needs a detox.
What does it do?
Made with zinc, copper, and white clay, this mud mask cleanses and purifies pores, absorbs excess sebum, and reduces the appearance of blemishes without overdrying. Skin is left clean, matte, and soft after each use.
How can it be used?
Use this over your entire face or as a spot treatment.
Use one to two times per week.
-Apply an even layer over face and neck, avoiding the eye area.
-Massage for one minute and allow it to sit until its color changes when dry.
-Rinse well with warm water.

Pros
-Sold at Sephora & Sephora inside JCP
- Purifies and Cleanses Skin
- Aids in healthy appearance of skin
Cons
-Can be expensive to some as it runs between $12-$20
-Not for dry or combination skin

I personally love Sephora brand products to include their make-up and brushes. Have you used any of the face masks or skin care products from the Sephora Collection? If so, let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading!

Issa Hair Post!

Hey Hey!! I wanted to tell you all about a bomb product that I got for free at a hair event. If you read my post on whether or not I’m a product junkie, then you definitely saw this product mentioned. Recently I have been trying to cut back on my product junkie ways and use up all the products I already have. By doing that I decided to grab this product and GIRRRRRRL, BOMBT! The product that I grabbed was Miss Jessie's Transitioner’s Magic. I have been natural my entire life so when it comes to purchasing hair products I never gravitate towards products that say anything in regards to transitioning. So in other words, I would have never ever tried this if it wasn’t given to me. Let me be the first to tell you that it clearly doesn’t matter what products say they are for, your hair will just take to what it likes! I am so happy that I grabbed this and gave it a try!

This product comes in a 8.5 FL.OZ packaging and a little goes a long way. On the front it says it’s “The Best Darn Transitioner Styler. Period” and I would have to agree. I found this product to be extremely smooth going through my strands and VERY moisturizing. The great amount of moisture it provides is what won me over. Like I said, I never had to transition from relaxed to natural but to all my curl friends who are going through that process I would strongly recommend this product. I think it would be perfect for someone who is not interested in getting a big chop because it would moisturize your new growth but also revive the relaxed pieces. I have also found that this product combats frizz. I tried this product twice before doing a post about it because we all know natural hair products can be iffy and you have to try them a couple of times before really knowing how effective they are. In the picture above, I was rocking day 4 hair and it was still very moisturized. I used the Transitioner’s Magic as a styler and overall I am extremely pleased with this product. I actually was given two of these bottles at the hair event and I gave one to my older sister thinking I wouldn’t get around to using them. Needless to say I am so mad I gave it her because I love the product and Miss Jessie’s is not cheap. This bottle alone is $22.00 however, it is definitely worth it. If you end up trying this out, comment down below and let me know how it worked. Thanks for reading!

OOTD: Just Call Me Doc!

Hey Hey!! I’m back with another OOTD and I thought I would use it to introduce you guys to a huge part of my life that I hardly ever mention. Some of you might have caught on to the fact that I am a graduate student however, I have never really told you anything about what exactly I’m doing/studying etc. So for those of you who do not know, I am currently a fourth year doctoral candidate studying Clinical Health Psychology. I have my bachelor of science in Psychology as well as my master of science in Clinical Psychology and I've decided to ride that thing on out! haha When I obtain my doctoral degree and license I wish to practice in a low income/urban community.  My heart is with our homeless population here in the United States and it would be my dream to open my own facility/shelter where I am able to provide not only housing and food but mental health services by intersecting health and behavior, and life skills training to assist individuals with integrating back into their communities successfully. I strongly believe in giving back to the community and helping the disadvantaged in any capacity that I can. The journey to my Ph.D is not an easy one and I am still on the path right now. So many sacrifices have been made and life doesn’t stop just because I am in this program. Starting my fourth year I have learned to accept the good with the bad and understand that it is all simply apart of the process and that it will all make sense in the end.

One thing that I have enjoyed as I’ve gotten older are my work clothes because let’s be honest, that's all I do. I enjoy getting snazzy for the plethora of conferences, presentations, interviews, and practicums that are required of me. My mother always says “Kourtney if you look good, you’ll do good!” and she’s absolutely right! Even when I am nervous for an interview or presentation, I make sure to pick out an outfit that I love to help ease my nerves and it works like a charm! Below is an OOTD where you are able to see how I plan to get this Ph.D in style! Also, be on the lookout for more posts related to health psychology. Enjoy and Just Call Me Doc!
